The Home Manager, supported by a Deputy Manager, and Responsible Individual ensure the overall quality of the service provided, meeting regulatory requirements and establishing the operational strategy. Our Residential Practitioners will be present to ensure 24 hour a day support. Specific staff with appropriate skills will be present as needed dependent on the precise needs of the young people currently being accommodated. At all times, there will be a minimum of one member of staff onsite plus a manager, additional staff will be provided to meet the needs of the children in our care. All staff recruited will have passed enhanced DBS checks and will have training and experience appropriate to their responsibilities. Within 6 months of employment, following a successful probation each member of staff will be working towards a minimum NVQ Level 3, with the opportunity to go beyond this to Levels 4 and 5. All staff undergo an induction training programme receiving training in all areas such has safeguarding, challenging behaviours, first aid, fire safety and any other relevant training courses, required to fulfil and enhance their role within the home. An in-house training program will ensure a continual opportunity for staff to refine existing skills and develop new ones. Training will encompass mandatory aspects as well as other areas that will contribute to staff’s personal development goals. New members of staff will have the opportunity to shadow prior to working independently and will be buddied with an experienced member of staff for at least six months and until they have successfully passed a six-month probationary period. Staff are fully supported and receive regular supervision. New members of staff will receive fortnightly supervision for the first 12 weeks of employment. The children’s home regulations, and quality standards are very important to us and therefore to ensure they are embedded into our practice.
